The basic SBF layout is pretty nice (well, I think so!). Odds are that you want a little more than that, and SBF can deliver it. /sbf options will pop up the SBF options frame. It looks pretty daunting when you first look at it, but it's easy to work with! The best way to learn how to configure SBF is to just play with it. That said, some of the more obscure things are explained below.
The Anchor
When you open up SBF Options, your effects will all get a little red square in the middle. This is the anchor
The anchor is the point around which your icons, bars, timers, names, and counts are all positioned. It's also the point that spacing is measured from. When you move something using the positioning frame (see below), the X and Y offset you see is relative to the centre of the anchor.
Frame Options and Global Options
The options tabs in the configuration frame are divided into two groups, frame options and global options
The settings on the tabs for frame options are applied per-frame for the frame selected int the Current Frame dropdown. The settings on the tabs for global options will apply for all frames in SBF
