Q: Why were you so rude to me for my comment on WoWInterface/email I sent you?
A: Consider that what you perceive as a simple, honest question that I so unreasonably flamed you for is about the hundred-and-somethingth time that very same question has been asked of me. Hence this site to answer the most common questions about SBF. If the answer to what you asked isn't actually on this site then I will always cheerfully answer it, and probably add it here afterward. If the answer to your question is here, then I feel no remorse. I'm actually a pretty typical Canadian in person, but I do have very little patience for people who won't help themselves. Call it a personal failing.
Q: You expect me to read this whole thing just for an addon?
A: I know, right? I'm such a horrible person. Fortunately, the whole thing is divided into sections with labels so you can still probably get away with putting in a minimal amount of effort.
Q: Can SBF show my target's effects?
A: Yes! Just use the Frame unit dropdown on the General tab for a frame to change the unit it will show effects for
Q: Why does SBF show all the debuffs on my target even though I used the "my" filter?
A: Make sure you have version 3.1.4 or later
Q: Can you make this use Ace?
A: It already is an Ace addon.
Q: Does SBF support cyCircled
A: Not anymore. If cyCircled ever gets resurrected, I may put support back in for it.
Q: Does SBF support ButtonFacade?
A: Yes.
Q: Why do debuffs not get their border coloured with ButtonFacade?
A: Not all ButtonFacade skins are created equal. SBF applies colour to the Normal layer of the BF skin for debuff colouring. If the skin you're using doesn't put the artwork on the Normal layer for whatever reason, then the border won't get coloured. This is not an SBF problem, but I am working on trying to find a reasonable way to let users set which layer gets the colour so that it shows up on the skin you choose to use.
Q: Where'd the buff menu go?
A: It's on vacation and will be back for SBF 3.2
Q: Where'd Show in Frame go?
A: SBF is now entirely based on filters. I removed the Show in Frame functionality as it doesn't make sense now, and I need to do some work to make it operate in the new filters-only world. It will be back in 3.2
Q: I don't get tooltips in my clickthrough frames, what's up?
A: If you set a frame to clickthrough, it completely ignores the mouse. No tooltips.
Q: I don't use bars. How does this affect SBF's memory usage?
A: Well, you really shouldn't worry about addon memory usage overmuch to begin with. In any case, SBF will only create bars if you have frames that use them.
Q: Why are the options in a separate addon?
A: The SBF options are a full blown graphical thing in their own right, and chew up a fair amount of memory. For most people, setup is something you do once and then leave alone except to tweak once in a while. Given that, it doesn't make sense for that to be loaded all the time so SBFOptions is a load on demand addon. It only gets loaded when you type /sbf options.
Q: Is there a French/German/Swahili translation available?
A: Right now, there are a few localisations (English, Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Russian). If you want to help out getting SBF translated into your language, drop me a line and we can make it happen
Q: Why are SBF's options not in the interface options panel?
A: The options window is cool and all, but it's big and you cannot move it. Not so fun trying to move your frames around a stationary frame. Not to mention the sheer effort involved in converting SBFOptions to that format. They are not likely to ever go there. Yes, I know about betterblizzoptions. Not everyone uses it. You'll
live.
