Filters Don't Work!
Yeah, they do. Make sure you have the frame set up right, and that you're using the right filters

On the General tab, Check off Show buffs and/or Show debuffs as appropriate.
Clicking the Show buffs and/or Show debuffs on and off (or off and on!) to make sure the flag gets set right can't hurt
On the General tab, make sure you selected the correct unit from the Frame unit dropdown
Remember that whitelist means "filters will make a effect be shown in this frame" and blacklist means "filters will make a effect be hidden in this frame"

Filtering my Buffs
I set up a frame to show X and it's not working. Help?

Make sure you're using SBF 3.1.4, which fixes my filters to work with WoW 3.1
The filter you want is n=X&my
Make sure the frame you chose is set for player
Make sure the frame you chose is set to show buffs

Effects on Other Units
How can I show effects on other units?

Create a frame, make it look however you like
On that frame's General tab, use the frame unit dropdown to select the correct unit.
Set the buff/debuff and whitelist/blacklist checkboxes as you want them

How can I show just the debuffs that I put on my target?

Create a frame, set it to show debuffs, set it as a whitelist. Set the unit to target
Add a my filter to the frame
You need SBF version 3.1.4 or later for the my filter to work correctly with WoW patch 3.1

How can I show just a specific debuff that I put on my target?
(We'll use the Living Bomb spell as the example here)

You can also use the Spells tab to create the filter. Create the frame as above (whitelist, debuffs, target). On the Spells tab, select the debuff you want from the list, then check off Show this effect and Cast by me. This will create the filter automatically for you.

How can I show specific debuffs on my target?
Similar to above

Create a frame, set it to whitelist. Set the unit to target
Add a n=debuff1 filter to the frame
Add a n=debuff2 filter to the frame
And so on for all the debuffs you want. You can also use the Spells tab to do this as above (without the Cast by me part)

How can I combine the buffs and debuffs in one list?

You should read the flowing section. Here's the lowdown, though:

Select frame 1 and make sure there is enough space for buffs and debuffs - any overflow of debuffs will still appear in frame 2
Go to the Flow tab. Select frame 1 as the parent frame
Select frame 2 as a child frame
Optionally, select frame 2 and set its visibility to never

Now your frame 1 will look something like this (depending on how you've configured your frame 1 to look, of course):

Temporary enchants
How can I move temporary weapon enchants to a different frame?

If the frame you want is a whitelist, add an e filter to it. If it's a blacklist, they should already be there. Don't forget you can use that same filter on a blacklist frame to make the temp enchants not show

Tracking buff
How can I put the tracking thing on the minimap as a buff?

Go to the Global tab. Make sure the "Show tracking" checkbox is checked
The tracking buff counts as an aura, so it will have either 0 time or 9999 seconds (if you have "Auras have max time" checked) when SBF determines where to put it in the frame
You can use the tr for the tracking buff

Totems
How can I move totems around?

If you are the shaman dropping the totems, the totem (to) filter will do the trick.
If you are benefitting from someone else's totems, n~totem should work for you

Cleansable Debuffs
How can I move debuffs that I can cleanse/dispel/remove around?

You can use the appropriate school filters (hm, hd, hc) individually
You can also use the ha filter to automatically move any debuff that your class can cleanse
